I think the more likely explanation is that you're simply not a very good compelling writer. Your pieces are overly long (a common rationalist trait), use turgid prose, and you spend much of every article repeating the same points over and over and providing copious links (are these ever followed, or do they just decrease readability) to your old content. None of this is promising for mass appeal.
