You should always listen to Balaji S: though he has little to directly say about the game, he has much to say about the nature of reality and much else that is adjacent to the seduction arts. Today, in Bitcoin, China, the "Woke" Mob, and the Future of the Internet, he speaks to the rise of networks and networked cities and states as a means of resisting the totalizing impulses of centralized, coercive states. This gets me thinking about the "woke" world that hates and feminizes men, despite despising, on a dating and mating level, the feminized men who result. If you buy into woke and being a p***y, you won't get laid, and yet enough guys seem to buy into this nonsense and indoctrination for it to persist, and a larger number of women claim to want p***y guys while f**king typical hot, successful guys.
What's going on with the guys who buy the woke narrative? Could be that most guys don't care about getting laid… or is it that getting laid in 2021 is really hard for most average guys because they don’t get it how it works and how to make it work for them, and for that reason either don’t try very hard or quit? Yours truly, however, still does try, and still feels some impulse to resist the ubiquitous media nonsense that celebrates failure and weakness instead of winning and strength. What is to be done?
There is a discussion on social media about whether the current insanity will be a mean reverting phenomenon (a backlash is brewing with a return to normalcy right around the corner!), or if we are in the midst of a cultural fourth turning, with society itself on the verge of collapse. The "Fourth Turning" thesis explains that most phenomena found in nature are cyclical, rather than mean reverting. In The Changing World Order, Ray Dalio describes the cycles of empire and control of the world’s reserve currency, along with the long-term debt cycles (of which we’re in the third and final phase). In Dalio's view, all of life moves in cycles, and humans are not exempt. Martin Luther King Jr. was wrong when he said “the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.” It bends. It breaks, and it bends again. I don’t really buy the Dalio view and he hasn’t been making falsifiable, time-specific predictions. It’s easy to be vague.
Will the woke continue to capture more and more of the financial, institutional, and social capital around the world? Isn’t anyone coming to save us? One answer relates to minority rule. Nassim Taleb, one of the world's most brilliant public intellectuals (The Black Swan, Fooled by Randomness, Antifragile), coined the term in his 2016 essay,
What is minority rule? First, a simple example:
When one person in a family of five is lactose intolerant, and the other four aren’t, odds are all of them eat dairy free meals.
The best example I know that gives insights into the functioning of a complex system is with the following situation. It suffices for an intransigent minority –a certain type of intransigent minorities –to reach a minutely small level, say three or four percent of the total population, for the entire population to have to submit to their preferences. Further, an optical illusion comes with the dominance of the minority: a naive observer would be under the impression that the choices and preferences are those of the majority. If it seems absurd, it is because our scientific intuitions aren’t calibrated for that (fughedabout scientific and academic intuitions and snap judgments; they don’t work and your standard intellectualization fails with complex systems, though not your grandmothers’ wisdom).
The main idea behind complex systems is that the ensemble behaves in way not predicted by the components. The interactions matter more than the nature of the units. Studying individual ants will never (one can safely say "never" for most such situations) give us an idea on how the ant colony operates. For that, one needs to understand an ant colony as an ant colony, no less, no more, not a collection of ants. This is called an “emergent” property of the whole, by which parts and whole differ because what matters is the interactions between such parts. And interactions can obey very simple rules. The rule we discuss in this chapter is the minority rule.
Minority rule explains countless phenomena that seem confusing without this lens. Why did the East Germans spy on their citizens and create such a culture of fear? If you don’t know who is on your side, you don’t know where power lies, and thus you have none. The intolerant minority will rule. The inverse of the intransigent minority is the silent majority. The fog of war confuses the silent majority into thinking the intolerant minority has numbers on their side when it is really conviction that they possess.
It's hard to attack the Death Star directly. Few of the normal people in schools, universities, corporations, or government will speak up for that which is obviously true—why be a martyr? Martyrdom is expensive. One answer to the problem of bullshit that Balaji offers is the power of networks: those of us who still care about and wish to get laid, those of us who observe the obvious in everyday life (that women like male attention, want masculine guys, and that normal chicks find winners intoxicating, that women like being and feeling sexy) can still find one another and speak to one another, both hiding and in plain sight of the woke. Pseudonymous networks have the benefit of social reputations divorced from “meatspace” identities. We do this when we tell our stories, and for that reason I encourage guys to write your player blog. Today, around 40 readers will find Red Quest via search. I'm only a single node in the network. If you want to see change, we, all of us, need to build a better network, a network that is opposed to the tyranny of the woke minority. That's what it takes to overcome the centralizing impulse that mandates conformity in schools, universities, and now the biggest corporations.
What can we do to resist? The woke now have institutional control of the schools, big corporations, and government. The rest of us have common sense, everyday life, the infamous "lived experience." What the schools, big corporations, and government don't have...yet, is complete control of our minds and thoughts. We can resist. We can learn game. We can not just learn it, we can talk about what we've learned and observed. We can share it in our networks, privately, pseudonoymousoy. Their power is great, but we do not live in their panopticon dream. Thoughtcrime is not yet a crime. The networks are still there, and Balaji is telling us not only to access it, but to build it. Satoshi didn't ask for permission to create Bitcoin: he created it. On a far smaller, less important scale, I didn’t ask permission to make Red Quest… I just did it. And you can do something similar.
Reality is on our side. People are not “assigned” sex at birth, they are born male or female. Sex is, and we observe it. "Assignment" happens when sperm meets egg. Reproduction can only happen when a male and female of the species mate.
Women like strong men with masculine qualities who are confident, not soy boys with dad bods who ask permission constantly and can’t take what they want. Gender is not a spectrum and most people are heterosexual, for obvious evolutionary reasons. Despite the popular narrative that women are strong and independent, most aren’t and don’t want to be—most women need men who can make things happen because they can’t or won’t make things happen for themselves. Almost everything the woke say is incongruent with reality, even within their own attempt to explain what’s going on.
Your choices matter.
Write the future. Build the future. Win the future. I’ve learned much from anonymous guys writing about game, guys who’ve deleted their works and disappeared into the world. Indeed I think I will soon disappear, but I hope the hundreds of thousands of guys who’ve been here, and the thousands who’ve downloaded the free book or bought physical copies of it from Amazon are learning.
